AN URGENT CALL FOR HELP - April 18, 2018 Hello, my name is Cappie. I am a very handsome young, male German Shepard presently at the Silver City High Desert Humane Society in Silver City, NM. I am making this urgent plea in order to be saved. If I do not find a home or foster care soon I may face my end. I am between one and two years old and weigh roughly 75 pounds. I have a beautiful black and tan coat, am strong, smart, healthy, good-natured and affectionate. I am not yet neutered but this is included in my adoption fee. I will need some shots. My past is unknown as I was brought in as a stray with a 3 foot broken wire attached to my collar. My initial fear responses were defensive which alerted caution around me but I settled down in a few days and my positive nature and potential was soon revealed. Unfortunately, this beginning removed my chance to be moved into the adopt room where people can meet me so my advocate, who works with me daily, is reaching out with my plea. I need a person (or family) who loves and understands the sensitive nature of a German Shepard and knows how to handle my energy and need to be trained. I am eager to please and want to learn, responding quickly to new commands. I am friendly with people and have shown no aggression to other dogs. I am curious about cats but am not sure what my relationship is to them. I have good leash manners and will sit for treats. Because I am a smart working-group dog, with the right interest and guidance, I may perform well with service or police dog training. I am a 'people' dog so will be a devoted companion but am best not left alone for many hours at a time where anxiety can create problems in my otherwise good behavior. I would make a great hiking partner as I love and need to exercise. My German Shepard roots also make me a good guard dog. I will bark to alert you or to get your attention. All of this I offer but most of all love and friendship. My plea is urgent as I already told you but I must be sure you understand.
