About Xena

FOSTER LOCATION: Twin Falls, ID Four-year-old Xena is 80 pounds of love and awesomeness! This Newfoundland/Border Collie mix came to Fuzzy Pawz when she was not doing well in a local shelter. Soft and gentle in manner the stress of kennel life was just too much for her and she stopped eating. Now healthy, happy and did we say awesome Xena is ready to find a family of her very own. Whatever Xena's background some took some time with her; she is a great companion, super easy going, quiet and well mannered. All she really wants in life is to be close to her humans and to be doing whatever they are doing. But she's not overly pushy about it and will go lie down when you tell her to but she would prefer to be wherever you are. While we have not had her around children we think she'd do well with kids 10 and over who are respectful of dogs. Xena has been fostered with other dogs, cats and even goats! She is good with the dogs both her size (another Newfie) and little (mini Dachshunds); she loves cats and has adopted a cat friend and they play chase. That being said she will now chase cats that run but only because she thinks they want to play with her; but she is very very gentle with them. She has been amazing with the brand new baby goats in her foster home and has proven herself trust worthy in any situation. Going for rides and walking out in the hills are some of her favorite things to do. After about a week with her foster family she has proven to be good off leash staying no further than 100 feet from her people. Her recall is really good with people she trusts. We'd really like to see Xena go to a home with people who have time to spend with her and a family that will take her places like walks along the river, hiking in the foothills, etc. She's pretty active and will need an outlet and time to spend bonding with her people.
