About Sally

Adoption Fee: $100
Bloodhound / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Sally is 2 year-old Redbone Coonhound - Labrador blend. We don't know her history but she is still learning to be comfortable in new situations. It's a conundrum. %BD' Sally can be fearful of large men, but David was her first foster and she ADORES him! %BD' Sally loves her walks, but is afraid of new dogs and can lash out when she feels crowded. %BD' She has a Coonhound's prey drive, but she barks like a lab. %BD' She is tentative about meeting new people, but then bonds extremely closely them once she knows them. (I didn't see her for 2 weeks and she couldn't stop with the kisses!!!) %BD' She is protective, but once she knows you she'll love you to pieces. %BD' When she misbehaves, she knows it and will jump up and hug you. %BD' She is fearful of new situations, but shows no separation anxiety when left home alone. %BD' Sally loves long walks and car rides. %BD' Sally enjoys her baths and will even let her person trim her nails! %BD' She loves going to training and showing off her commands. She will even 'circle' you before she sits by your side! Once Sally was pulled from Baldwin Park shelter (thank you Harlee's Angels SoCal aka Handi-Capable Ranch) she went up to Rocket Dog Rescue-a very hound-savvy outfit that places dogs responsibly. A nice man with a large house and no pets stepped up to adopt her. But he did not let her out enough and when she peed on his carpet, he sent her packing. By then Rocket Dog had no room. Sally is currently with a trainer, but she's in close proximity to other dogs who make her nervous. She would love to be in a home again where she can feel safe. While we think Sally could eventually do well with other animals we are saying 'only pet' until she can get in her forever home and work with people she loves and trusts. Do you know a family with kids over 10 years old (she loves kids) who could take Sally as their one-and-only? Her ability to participate in a busy household will help her learn to trust people and be the great dog we know she is. Outta the Cage will donate 2 training sessions with Sally to an L.A. or Ventura county adopter. And an Outta the Cage t-shirt. And, of course, you get Sally! Please PM me if you would like to meet her!
