About Tucker

Adoption Fee: $50
Chihuahua mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Tucker is literally the best chihuahua you'll ever come across. Hands down. He's about 2-3 yrs old. Black with two white socks in the back. He doesn't bark at the door when visitors come, he doesn't bark at dogs on the street, he's very quiet and submissive and LOVES to get up under the covers to snuggle right next to you, and sits quietly and calmly for car rides. He comes when called and can walk off-leash without bolting away, he's also house trained and knows 'sit' when motivated just right. He's shy but will come army-crawling towards you, ears back, tail wagging, because he simply can't help the call for attention. Seriously, all this lil boy wants is some love. He's lived here in my apartment for only a few days, perfectly harmonious with my small lovebird and two cats and boyfriend. Now, about the 'arthritis'(it's not really, I just couldn't find an option for what he has): We adopted Tucker from a kill shelter a day before my birthday (04/12/18), and took him to the vet today (04/16/18) only to find out that he has severe muscle atrophy in his back left leg because of a injured tendon that is also causing knee displacement and fluid buildup in the joints. (he seemed totally fine before I adopted him, but as soon as we got home I noticed a slight limp). He could either be on medication for the rest of his life or get it surgically fixed, which unfortunately, is a few thousand dollars that we don't have. (And what's even more upsetting is, of course, the shelter will not guarantee or take any responsibility for temperament or physical health issues, but when I adopted him, they gave me a document stating an at-a-glance 'clean bill of health'... so riddle me that. Regardless, it freakin kills me, and my boyfriend and I are devastated... but we want to do right by this little man and find him a forever home that can care for him in ways we currently just can't. Other than the leg, he's fine and happy as can be. I would keep him if I could in a heart beat, but our financial options are limited when it comes to hefty expenses such as this at the moment. Please, someone help this loving dog. I just want what's best for him :,(
