Lilu has slowly become blind. Her eyes appear normal, so we suspect that she has a detached retina or possibly a stroke. We cannot afford the expensive treatment that would be required (with no guarantees of Lilu getting any better). She has lost weight & 'picks' at her food slowly. She has an appetite, but because of the vision issues it takes her forever to eat her food. She drinks water as long as we keep a big bowl full & she will gently dip her snout into the water & drink a lot of water. We have a tiled floor room where she now stays with a doggie door going outside & we have had to position couches around her crate to avoid her walking around the rest of the room as she will sometimes go to the bathroom on the tile & she was previously always going outside to do her business, but has now started going to the bathroom in our home about 25% of the time, so we have her in an area with about 6 tiles, her crate, her food & water, & the doggie door to go outside, which has helped with the indoor bathroom episodes as opposed to when she had access to roam around the entire room. She has a grassy backyard to walk around, so we don't feel bad about limiting her indoor square footage to 6 tiles. We have another dog who has been tolerant of Lilu, but we highly recommend that Lilu be rescued by someone who has no other pets to avoid Lilu being bullied by a 'Alpha or Dominant Dog' as she has no way to protect herself. We are busy people & just do not have time to attend to her needs. We hope that you will help us & give her the love & care that she deserves.
