About Jafar

Adoption Fee: $20
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Trying to find my best friend a new home. His name is jafar he is 4 years old. Has been to dog training and is currently up to date medically I adopted him from a marine family who had to move. They told me he was great with pets and people. Unfortunately this wasnt true He needs to be an only dog. He has protective and jealousy issues and will bark at other pets. He is loyal and extremely fun to be around and play with. But because he was abused as a child he suffers from ptsd and doesn't allow other people to come near his owners. He is fine with others when his owner isnt near. Weve never taken him around kids. We recommend not having children or introducing him slowly as he was abused by a little girl and we think he may not like kids although we arent 100% What we have done so far to deter the problem German shepherd rescues turned us all away- they either want to put him down because his low level adoption percentage Medicate him heavily so he cant be himself No kill shelters want to put him down- I thought this was odd since they are 'no kill' Behavior speacilist we hired wants to medicate him Vet recommended put down- medicated Im going to deploy in may, my wife cannot handle him alone as he keeps our kittens stricken with fear under our bed. He us a big dog with a big bark he does come off scary to the faint at heart but he has never hurt anyone and is a huge snowflake inside. He would do perfect with a family who wants one dog. He is miserable here in my apartment home community because of all the people and the dogs it freaks him out and it triggers anxiety. Ive gone to every shelter every city forum from san diego to lA and nobody wants him because he has to be an only dog. I refuse to medicate him or put him down because people dont want to love him fpr who he is. Hes not a bad dog. He learned alot in training. Basic commands crate and potty training. But whatever happened on the breed farm he was rescued from scarred him. And i dont want human actions that dictated how he lives his life now, be the reason humans put him down. If anyone you know needs a loyal mature dog. And can provide him with the life he diserves please let them know or pass this along. Id rather see him go to a loving family or person who has the means he thrives in then a shelter that will be scared by his size and emotion and put him down.
