About Poppy

German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Poppy here! Aren't I one beautiful girl?! Pretty. Smart. Cuddly. Friendly. These are just a few of the words my foster family uses to describe me. I am a young, energetic, playful and happy gal. I was given up by my owner who became ill and could no longer care for me or my brother, Tank. I'm all those things my foster family says about me and more of course. I love, love, love people, adults and kids and other dogs! I especially love it when you rub my tummy or scratch behind my ears and tell me what beautiful, soft fur I have. Once I've had some exercise playing in the yard with the other dogs, you can find me laying at my foster families feet or curled up next to them on the couch. I am a super smart, 9 month old Shepherd mix girl and weigh in at 45 lbs. I love to go for car rides and I'm very good in the car. I'm working on my manners in the house which are coming along very nicely if I don't say so myself. Seeing and smelling all those yummy things on the counter or table are just way too tempting. But my foster family is teaching me that I get fed and have plenty of treats so there's no reason to be greedy. Because I'm still a young girl, I do need daily exercise either playing in a fenced in yard with another dog or going for some nice long walks or runs. I've been with my brother, Tank, since the beginning, literally. We are littermates and did everything together. While we'd love to be adopted by the same family, we both know that might not be possible. And we're going to be ok if that happens. My foster family says so and promised that they would find us the most fabulous homes that have another dog for us to play with. And a fenced in yard. And a family that loves us and will work with us to show us how to be the best we can be but love us even when we do something that's not exactly acceptable. I'm not too keen on being in a crate nor am I completely house broken. But I'm super smart, my foster family says so, and we're working on both of these things. I know to do my business outside but have an occasional slip up. I'm still getting used to being here and will need time to adjust in my new home too. I do need some help learning how to walk nicely on a leash too. My new family will be required to take some training classes with me where I know I'll be a star pupil. I'm very smart and want to please. Can you tell my foster family thinks I'm pretty special?? All in all, I'm a good girl, you're not surprised are you? Remember all the good things you've read about me so far?? I just need some time to adjust to my new life and surroundings and be showered with love and attention and reassurance that all is good. My new family will recognize my potential and know that with time, patience and training, I will make a very loyal addition to your family. So'|.if you think I'd be a good fit for your family and lifestyle, please fill out an application here and we'll get checking you out just to make sure it's a good fit. After all, I deserve a pretty special home since I'm so special myself. http://newstartdogrescue.org/ My adoption fee is $275. I am already spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines.
