About Phoenix

American Staffordshire Terrier / Pointer
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hello! This is Phoenix. We've had him for 2 years now, after rescuing him from PAWS at 4 months old. He is in perfect health, knows his commands (sit, lay down, off, go, stay, okay, etc), he's absolutely house trained with no problems ever in that department. Circumstances in our lives are forcing us to make a decision we never thought we'd be making. So here we are, trying to find a wonderful new home for this happy guy. Honestly, we don't want money, we simply want to know that he is going to a family that will love him and continue to keep him happy and healthy, instead of a shelter. He is a loving, loyal, and super energetic dog. He loves nothing more than running, being chased, and chasing anything that moves (dogs, balls, frisbees, squirrels, rabbits, etc etc). He'll play fetch for days if you're up for it. We go to the dog park every day so he can get his energy out. He loves to meet every single dog and be a part of whatever pack may be forming on any particular day. He is deeply curious about everything. He is a little wary of new people--it takes him a second to submit to someone new, but once he does, he is immediately on his back and ready for a tummy rub. Once he trusts you, he will love you with every ounce of his being. Though he loves to play, he loves to snuggle and nap equally as much! His favorite thing is to curl up right next to you under a blanket, or under the sheets of your bed ;) He also loves a good body massage, as he is a ball of lean muscle! He loves attention, and is happy to just follow you around wherever you go in the hopes you might stop and give him some love. Ideally, we'd love to find him a family that will send us a few photos and videos once in a while to let us know that he is happy, loved, and living his best life, as we never thought we'd be saying goodbye to a beautiful life we rescued a few years back. Have courage and be kind--it's how we try to live our lives, and we are trying to be as courageous as possible here, because this is one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. Please be kind in return, and we will know that your family will be the right fit for this amazing guy.
