About Toby

Do you need someone to baby? I want to be the center of someone's universe. I am a handsome, neutered 2 year old lab mix. Right now, I am on the road to recovery after surgery to correct a luxating patella (fancy name for wobbly knee). The vet says no running, jumping or rough play for right now. I can go for walks and rest in my crate. My incision is all healed and I no longer need medication, just tincture of time. My ideal owner is someone who knows dogs and preferably has a dog that I can take my lead from. I can be a little anxious but having a calm, collected leader is really all I need. In my foster home, I had a doggie brother that I adored. Every time he came in the door I would run to greet him with kisses. We were kindred spirits. He is a dog's dog and so am I. We love people but life is just better with canine pals. Like human 2 year olds, I need limits and if I don't get any, then I don't know what to do with myself. I am not supposed to be in charge. I may act like I want my own way but really I want you to show me the way. I am a very sweet guy, a little timid at first but I warm up quickly. I spent some time living on the streets. Life was scary then. I want someone who will make me feel safe and secure and love me. I am fine in a crate but I would much rather have people who are around during the day . I am not a huge fan of being alone. If you have to work, I understand. Bills need to be paid, dogs have to eat. I think going to doggie daycare could be a lot of fun. A fenced yard is not essential but I love going outside and feel safe and happy when I don't get bombarded with visions of scary things. Did I mention that snuggling is one of my talents? Neutered, microchipped, negative for Heartworm and Lyme disease, up to date on all vaccines, I am ready to be your bundle of joy. Soon it will be perfect weather for walks and outdoor play.
