About Haze

Introducing Haze, a very special girl with beautiful eyes! Our journey with Haze began two years ago when one of our founders saved her two puppies. They were being sold on Craigslist and when she went to pick them up she saw they were living in terrible conditions. The puppies were covered in burns from cigarettes and ammonia from lying in their pee (photo of her son Murphy posted below in comments). The man who owned them was not evil, but was a drug addict and we believe the other men who did drugs at his home are the ones that would hurt the puppies, not him. We begged him to give us the mom (Haze) and dad of the puppies, but due to his love for them and his pride he refused. However, we stayed in touch with him for two years, always asking for the parents. Finally, last week he agreed! He has become a father, improved his life and is now trying to do the right thing for these dogs and his family. He couldn't bare to part with the male dog yet, but he promised that when he is ready, he will let us find him a new home. Haze has been through a lot. He found her wandering through a park in Harlem two years ago when she was about 8-9 months old. She then had two litters of puppies while living with him, which he sold on Craigslist. The apartment they all lived in was dark, dirty, and in the basement of a Harlem apartment building, and for a long time it was full of addicts. She has had little interaction with the outside world, so coming to the suburbs and country with us has been a bit shocking for her. She is taking it all in, though and is really an amazing dog! She is a typical pit bull, so sweet and forgiving of whatever people may have done to her in the past. She does well with other animals, but is dominant and would do best as the top dog of any new home! She is kind, gentle and loving with people and children of any age, and knows her basic commands and some tricks! She also is mostly housebroken, but her foster home is working to perfect that!
