About Maia

Maia is truly special girl. She was at a small shelter, and was likely going to be euthanized because of her extreme fear of humans. When approached she would cower and shake uncontrollably. Now she is like a different dog, it is amazing what love and kindness will do for an animal. She is a sweet loving dog and would make the right person a wonderful furever companion. She isn't perfect however. She is leery of strangers and occasionally get anxious. She is crate trained, and is fine in a crate overnight or when left alone for short periods of time, but she is not a dog that can be crated all day and night, nor left alone for extended periods. She currently lives with dogs and cats. She has not harmed a cat so far, but is a little aggressive or overly curious about them, so I do not leave her unattended with the cats. I have had her work with a trainer, and she does well on leash. I can take her on car rides and to the pet store and she does fine. She seems to like kids fine, but is not around them often. She is a lanky dog, and may knock over a small child accidentally. She has never shown any aggression to children. It will be important for her human to be patient and understanding, especially until she can trust and love you. She is amazingly affectionate, especially considering how fearful she was at first. She is a gorgeous, sweet girl!
