About Lenny

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Lenny is a 2 year old Chihuahua/Basenji mix who has quite a year. Last spring, Lenny was removed from a hoarding home with a few dozen other dogs. He was relatively socialized so he was adopted soon after. Unfortunately, he was returned this past winter. Then, the Humane Society realized he needed surgery on his knees, and some time to resocialize. So, he was placed in foster care with Fuzzy Pawz so he could recover, and now he is ready to find his forever home! Lenny is quite active, especially now that his knees feel so much better! Once he becomes comfortable where he is, he is a goofy and sweet boy who just wants to live his best life. He enjoys playing and wrestling with his foster siblings, and has been known to chase a squirrel running along the fence from time to time. He is learning how fun toys can be too! Soft toys are his favorite. He is totally potty trained and loves his crate. He happily stays in his crate while his foster mom is gone from the house, as long as he can see his friends. While he doesn't know any commands, he is eager to please and his foster mom has begun working on it with him. Given Lenny's history, it's not surprising he has some quirks. Lenny is scared of new things and hasn't had much experience going out on walks. The outside world can be overwhelming for him.l and he gets spooked easily. He will need continued training in baby steps to make him more comfortable with new things. Barking is Lenny's default response when he's scared, so his new home will need to understand his responses. Lenny is also much more afraid of men, than women, so he cannot go to a home with only men in the house. Lenny's ideal home would be one with at least one woman, but also one that has plenty of structure and consistency, as he thrives when things are predictable. He also MUST go to a home with another playful and confident dog so he can continue building his confidence. He is fine with cats, but children under 12 would scare him, so we won't adopt to a home with younger kids.
