About Zeus

We've had Zeus, our bluetick coonhound, for 7 years and he's brought my husband and I a great deal of joy. We recently had a baby, and he's not taken the arrival well. For 8 months we've tried to work with Zeus, but I think his anxiety, skittish tendencies around some sounds, and serious jealousy of attention make him not right for homes with babies. Zeus is pretty independent. He likes his crate and to go for walks. We rescued Zeus while living in Pittsburgh. He has run races with us and moved 5 times from Pittsburgh to DC to Lewisburg. He doesn't need much - a warm bed, walks, peanut butter every now and then, and some good back scratches. He's always been skittish and anxious, but that was always manageable until we brought our baby home. We do have a female labradoodle and he tolerates her, but I think he'd prefer to be alone. I really hope we can find him a new home soon. We keep him in his crate or outside when our little man is awake, or completely separate them with baby gates and playards. He really has been a good dog. And, if you love coonhounds and that howl, you'll love his.
