About Nellie

Hi there, how are you? My name is Nellie, and I am fine, thank you very much! I am a 4 to 6 year-old female spayed domestic shorthair with claws. As you can see from my pictures, I am a warm brown tabby with pretty green eyes. Even though I am called a shorthair, my beautiful coat is so soft and plush that the Safe Place volunteer said that it felt like bunny fur. I came to Safe Place for Pets because my mom just died. I have been really lucky in a lot of ways. First, my mom had a really great pet sitting company (Lucky Pet Home Pet Care) taking good care of me even before she passed, and second, because my human sibling was kind enough to let me stay in our apartment and have them continue taking care of me even after that. As if that weren't enough, I have been lucky enough to be fostered by a wonderful couple who have loved me as if I were their own. They tell me that Safe Place for Pets is in the process of moving and that all their cats are in foster now. My foster parents tell me that I can stay with them until I find a new forever home! My name will always be Nellie, but I guess you could also call me Lucky! As you can probably tell, I am an outgoing lady. My foster mom says that I would do well as a mascot cat in a small store because I love everybody and am so adaptable. But I really think I'd be happier to be part of a family. I like children and would be perfectly happy to live with them. I've never been around other cats or dogs, so I can't say how I'd be around them, but I might be fine, who knows? I love to be petted - especially on my tummy! - and brushed. I like lap time, but am not pushy about it. If I realize that you're going to be sitting for a while though, I am likely to come up and keep you company for as long as you like. I've never really learned to play, although I'd be willing to be taught! My absolute favorite place to be is on top of my enormous cat tree, especially if it happens to be in front of a window. My prior mom even bought a little heating pad that fits in one of the cubbies. I'm so happy that I get to keep it! I'm really good about using it instead of furniture to sharpen my claws. I'd sure like to find a forever home of my own. My foster parents love me and would be happy to adopt me themselves, but they like to travel and don't think it would be fair to leave me alone for long periods of time.
