About Maizie

Miss Maizie is ready to meet and greet you! This lovely 37ish pound, 10-14 month old aussie mix has made tons of progress in her short month with us.�%A0 Like many rescues, Maizie's socialization was limited. Even with no experience to draw on, she was brave and willing to check it out - slowly - to see what would happen. This girl is smart, sensitive and sweet. She is the kind of dog that makes people put 'Who Rescued Who?' stickers on their cars.�%A0 Like many aussies, Maizie is reserved upon first meeting but doesn't take long to warm up. Then it's wiggle-butt city! She is a fast learner. Once she knows what is expected she happily gets with the program. She plays well with the other dogs - willing to chase and be chased. She is developing an interest in chasing the ball, too, because people get excited when she does that. A people pleaser rather than a ball maniac.�%A0 Maizie is good in the car, walks well on a lead and seems disinterested in the yard cats. No information about kids, but with proper introductions and supervision, she will probably be fine.�%A0 Maizie can be a silly and playful puppy but she settles immediately in the house. Her inside manners are impeccable. She just wants to be near you - not clingy, just doing her aussie job of taking care of you. She verbally corrects quickly with a simple 'No, Maizie'.�%A0 We think Maizie could be happy in many situations once her person establishes trust with her. Another doggie friend would be nice but she would probably be ok as an only too, if her person keeps working on socialization to keep that aussie tendency of over- protectiveness in check. Maizie has a big capacity to love and bond. A person who helps her develop that ability to include many people and experiences will be to her - and their - benefit. She has the potential to be a therapy or service dog, or just the best darned companion anyone could wish for. Are you looking for Maizie?
