About Lu-Jai-Ying

Adoption Fee: $1500
Poodle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

LuJaiYing was saved from the illegal meat trade in China. He is one of three of our first saved dogs from this horrific life and we hope to be able to continue to save more. Working with rescue's in China, we pay to get these dogs vetted, tested, quarantined and all other requirements to import them to the safety of the rescue in Sebec, Maine. The adoption fee for our dogs we save from China is $1,500 and covers the costs we incur to save this precious souls. LuJaiYing is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm, tick-disease and screw worm tested negative. He has been de-wormed, microchiped and received any necessary monthly preventatives. He has an estimated date of birth of 23rd May 2016. LuJaiYing arrived in the United States on 24th March 2018. When Lu-Jai arrived at the airport he was very scared and stressed, he was snappy with the other dogs from the flight and just really confused as to what was going on. We kept him in a crate for the drive home so that he could decompress and when at the rescue at first had him in a pen, but then after a short while opened the gate and in his own time he came out to meet the other dogs and get lots of fuss and attention. Lu-Jai for the first week was reserved, he was clearly taking in all that was going on, he had relaxed with the other dogs and was great when the small puppies came up to him, and he definitely wanted to catch up on all the love and attention he has missed out on in his life. After the first week, his guard came down and his amazing personality started to shine through. He loves playing with the other dogs, he loves the snow, he loves to chase and bring tennis balls, he loves his cuddles and fuss. He will stand on his back legs and paw at you to get your attention if you dare to not be giving him your undivided attention. Lu-Jai, being a poodle is going to require constant grooming to ensure he is comfortable in his coat and it doesn't get matted, so a family that either knows and enjoys regular grooming, or has the finances and time to take him for regular grooming is a must. Allowing dogs hair to get matted is not good for them and is very painful and this poor boy has endured enough pain to last him a million lifetimes. Lu-Jai walks ok on the leash, and with a little practice he would be perfect. He rides wonderfully in the car and does use the dog door to go outside to do his business, although at times I have caught him still peeing at the door or on the puppy pee pads, so it is important to expect accidents as he will once again be having a huge transition in his life. Lu-Jai is a young, high energy boy who needs guidance and training and it is important that he has a family that understands this and has the time and patience to work with him. It is important that they spend time as a family to work on training, setting boundaries and learning each others personality and body language. He is extremely intelligent and attentive and training will be fun and very productive. It is also important to remember that taking him to new places, caution must be taken to make sure he feels safe and secure, we do not know if any kinds of noises scare him. Lu-Jai is a social boy and has never shown any kind of aggression at all, he lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and puppies and enjoys the company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that he gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout his life. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months, (if at all) until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. It is crucial to remember the horrors this boy has endured and you do not know what might scare him. We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment on how he would be around them, he is very curious and playful and so I would expect chasing at a minimum. Lu-Jai is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue which is located in Sebec, Maine, for an adoption fee of $1,500. This fee covers the costs incurred by the rescue to save this precious soul and get him to the US. The fee is not negotiable. We post in other states and in Canada to ensure our saved dogs get as much exposure as possible and the perfect families are found. Adoptive families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet Lu-Jai and if all goes well, take him home with them to start their new wonderful life. Rescuer QingEr, JiaYing has so many merits. He is not only a graceful and polite boy but also has a high intelligence and understanding of things. He knows to wait before he gets the permission to enter. He was born with such delicacy and he always know how to behave. He is also a fantastic passenger if you bring him out for a ride. He likes to catch your heart with a cute tiled head and blinking eyes. The experience of being a spray dog hurts him deeply inside and make him cautious and timid, especially when he is adapting to a new place.
