About Mocha-ADOPTION PENDING

The very first thing that Mocha the Schnauzer/Yorkie mix wants to make clear is that he's a love.. and so very beautiful. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden streaks that run through his gorgeous silvery coat. This striking guy will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his non-shedding coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Everything is new to Mocha...his little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Mocha is on your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his relationships are so important to him. This 2 or so year old, 11 lb Schnauzer/Yorkie mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Mocha was identified by shelter personnel as a sweet and engaging guy who will be a gift to a family that loves dogs. The following notation was put on Mocha's kennel card: Shelter personnel created a play group of smaller, well-behaved male dogs. They all interacted off leash in the outside runs and couldn't have been sweeter! Mocha (a shelter favorite hands down!) held a loose swaying body, wagging tail, open panting mouth, and able to interact peacefully with the other dogs and humans passing by. When retrieved, Mocha was happy and wiggly. He jumped up on me to seek affection and interacted in the most positive way. Absolutely love this little dog! He will be a gift to a family...I wish him well! Mocha is such a people dog...he loves older kids (hasn't been tested with children under 12) but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Mocha with active retirees or a family with older kids who want an adorable and engaging dog as a family member and best companion. He will be a lap dog extraordinaire as well as a fun and playful guy who enjoys outdoor play and adventures. Mocha will be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Terrier mix, Mocha is super-smart and loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Mocha would love the challenge of training and is so smart and wanting to please that he would excel. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Mocha would be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Mocha can have just a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His basic nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over. We've requested that Mocha be neutered prior to his arrival in Colorado. Since New Mexico shelters have very limited access to vets and funding...this isn't always possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Mocha's neuter and microchip after his arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Mocha is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/14/18.
