About Carmen

Adoption Fee: $295
Jack Russell / Chihuahua
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Carmen 1-2 years old Approx. 20 lbs Chihuahua/ JR Terrier mix Carmen is about as sweet as they come. She's loving and fun. She connects very well to adult females and likes to stay close. She does well with kids but would do best with kids 7 and older. She loves playing with other dogs as well. Not sure about cats. She enjoys her toys, playing catch, and chewing on bones. She loves running around the yard so a fenced in yard would be great for her. She is smart and very motivated by treats. She knows sit and has been working on leash walking. It seems she hasn't done a lot of it in her life so she could use some continued work on it. She seems very trainable! Carmen is mostly house broken but she is not good at letting you know she needs to go out. She needs a family that will be patient and continue working with her on that. She has improved and her foster family can tell when she needs to go out. Carmen does not love her crate but is kept in it when her foster family is not home. She would prefer to sleep with her family if that is an option. She also would do best in a home where someone is there most of the time. She is timid when meeting new people but warms up pretty quickly. She needs gentle introductions and to be eased into new situations with a lot of support and reassurance. Overall she is a wonderful girl! Always ready for fun but cuddly and affectionate too! Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. Please consider becoming a foster home while you search for your new best friend. We need foster homes - pounds are overflowing with puppies and adult dogs that are at-risk and need help. We can only rescue as many as we have foster home commitments.
