About Odin aka Odie

Odie is about 2 1/2 yrs old and is about 55 pounds. He's been here since last Sept. He'd been banished to a back yard since he was a pup and the only contact he had was abusive prior to being dumped at the pound when the family moved. He's perfectly crate trained and have never once made a mess in his crate overnight. He hasn't seen the inside of a house in well over a year so he will need a refresher on housebreaking. This super smart boy is eager to please so he should be back where he needs to be with a week of loving supervision. He is amazing on a leash and loves to go for walks. We've had a trainer working with him weekly for months to teach him basic obedience and build his confidence. He's mastered sit, lay, off, and heal but is a little too happy-wiggly for stay sometimes. Car rides are scary but he's getting used to them. Odin has been so badly neglected that he resource guards his human affection. His new human will need to be a good pack leader to help him overcome his fears and adjust to a new home. He's sniffed our cat a number of times but never tried to bite her. Squirrels flat out tick him off though - LOL He gets along with other dogs but is jealous and would either need to be an only dog or strictly supervised for the first month or two - which is really kind of what one should do any time a new animal is brought into a home. The boy who came here fearful of hugs and kisses is eager for love and will even allow a belly rub now once he gets to know you. If you're interested in helping him, please message.
