About JOE

JOE MUST BE REHOMED WITHIN A WEEK. HE IS NOT A CANDIDATE FOR OUR SANCTUARY PROGRAM. PLEASE HELP FIND JOE A HOME. Joe is a Black Mouth Cur mix - a hunting and cattle dog. He IS kind, fearless, loyal, protective, active, & trained. He needs a ranch/large yard setting to survive without issue. He needs a handler familiar with active dogs needing a job. He has bitten children with provocation. Both times the pre-teens were hitting him with a shirt or yanking on his collar dragging him around despite adoption requirements he not be allowed around less mature kids. He also likes to push around other dogs - hence he needs a job. He does not inflict serious injury and has manners. He just needs to do something constructive. Joe has been here for 2 years on & off. He IS A great dog. Affectionate, awesome recall and obedience, shakes both hands, sits, stays, crate trained, house trained but marks, will chew stuff If not properly exercised or crated. He is good outdoors year round. He likes to hike, run and swim. Joe is protective of his humans & needs respectful handling. He truly is eager to please and highly intelligent. He is neutered, up to date on shots, weighs 60 pounds and is about three (3) years old. If you are looking for a well-behaved obedient dog that will keep you safe, JOE is your guy. He does love belly rubs and snuggles. It is helpful to have active / working dog handling experience.
