About Leila

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only. Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Leila has turned out to be a loving dog and gets along with our young grandchildren and other dogs. Unfortunately she developed Addison's disease 2 months after we adopted her from our local shelter June, 2017. She requires daily oral medications and a monthly injection for the rest of her life. Frequent lab tests as well. This costs us about $350.00 per month- but that is with a Banfield health plan. Otherwise it would cost closer to $600.00+. Because of the medications she gains weight and is constantly hungry and thirsty and requires lots of exercise. The Addison's has many other factors that need to be carefully maintained. We have been keeping up with her meds, labs, diet, and love, so far but the costs are beginning to take their toll on our fixed SS income and exercise is hard for us due to our disabilities and I worry about the beginning of the warm/hot months coming up; overheating will be a problem. I'm not sure we'll be able to keep up. Leila is not much for playing or running when we go to the dog parks but she loves to bark treats!!!!! Can you help us?
