Teddy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a very loving and adorable Maltese/Shih Tzu ...with a bit of Yorkie in the mix for good measure. Teddy is so joyful and engaging that his companionship is time spent with a kind, positive spirit that exudes happiness. Teddy is being relinquished to Farfel's Rescue by a family that is facing medical challenges with their child. It is being recommended that they provide this child with a service dog that needs to be an only dog in the household. Therefore, they had no choice but to responsibly relinquish Teddy to Farfel's Rescue. They described Teddy in the following way: Teddy is an incredible little dog. He is 4 years old and 16 pounds...pretty perfect age and weight - old enough to have left babyish ways behind and young enough to have many, many healthy, active years ahead. He's also a great size...small enough to be a perfect lap dog and companion for almost every activity and large enough to enjoy hiking trails and fun activities with his family. Teddy is very loving and happy with a positive and fun-loving outlook on life. There is no living creature that he is not happy to be around. If it has a pulse, Teddy is happy to play together and have so much fun. He loves to race around the house but also loves equally to nap on your lap in the sweetest way possible. Teddy sleeps all night long in his kennel...very peaceful and quiet. Teddy loves warm baths but does not care for being brushed very much. We leave his hair care to his groomer and they have a great relationship. Teddy absolutely loves belly rubs! To him, first thing in the morning is a great time to give and get love. A massage is nirvana to Teddy and is a great bonding time for him and his family. Teddy isn't particularly a vocal dog, but does express his family loyalty by barking appropriately if he hears someone approaching the door or other strange sounds. Teddy has always lived in the mountains and completely enjoys his time outdoors (as well as cuddling by the fire as soon as he comes in from playing). Teddy loves to roll around in the snow, have snowball fights (gentle only) and accompanying us while snowshoeing in winter and hiking/camping in summer. Teddy will be the best friend you can imagine! You can count on Teddy to be a gift to retirees, kind kids who desire their dog to be their best friend and anyone working in a home office who desires a foot warmer and some sweet diversion. Teddy will do great with anyone who's invested in spending time with their dog. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely (or long) walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Teddy's temperament. We aren't open to a home where the family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Teddy to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Teddy is a non-shedding guy with a gorgeous pearl-white coat. The breed mixes in Teddy are considered to be among the most hypoallergenic available today. His coat has been very well cared for by his current family and is therefore very healthy and soft as can be. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loving best friend.
