Hello my name is Opal. I am 4 years old and found myself dumped at a kill shelter soon after I had given birth but someone took my babies and I was all alone. I was very depressed and shut down and was scared to even move in my kennel at the shelter . My rescue was asked by the shelter to consider taking me since I was not doing well there. I have been in a foster home for over a year now and just now starting to come around and attend adoption events at Petsmart. I am still scared and a bit unsure of new people but my foster mom is walking me in the neighborhood to help me realize people aren't going to hurt me anymore. I spend a lot of time on the couch with my cat friend looking out the window at the birds and squirrels. When I first got there, she had to literally pull me out the door or pick me up because I was so scared to go out the door. My recue said they knew someone was mean to me the way I cower but I was also traumatized by my babies being taken away from me when I was still nursing them and being dumped at the shelter. I'm making good progress each week and learning to trust again. I would do best with someone who is home a lot to spend time with me and reassure me I am safe and loved. I have even started playing with the other animals in the house now so that is a huge step my foster mom says. I am dog and cat friendly and attend doggie day care some weeks and do fine there. My people does not know how I do around kids since there is no kids in the foster home but I have seen kids at the adoption events. I just need a soft spoken adopter who has time to spend with me. I am a very calm girl and want nothing more than a loving home of her very own. If I sound like a girl that you would love to take a chance on and show me forever love, please contact my rescue asap. Love, Opal
