My husband and I found Rooney in a remote field a couple of days ago. He was covered in ticks, has lost nearly all of his hair, and is moderately underweight. We took him to our vet the very next day to have him looked over. Our vet says he is a Blue Pit. He is very mild tempered and affectionate. He walks well on a leash, and does not jump up on people. He's very expressive with his face and his voice. He is not possessive of food, and he is underactive SO FAR to cats and dogs. He has hookworms, heartworm, and hip dysplasia. We are treating him for the hookworms already, and had him vaccinated. His heartworm treatment will cost $1500 dollars or more, and he will still need to be neutered. We are willing to let an interviewed and approved family have Rooney with no adoption fee, under the condition that a legal document is signed and notarized stating that the new owner will follow through with neuter and treatment within 45 days of adoption. Please email Allysa if you are interested in adopting Rooney, or know of a shelter willing to help him find a home.
