Velma is on indefinite MEDICAL HOLD Velma came to Pug Luv as an owner surrender from a breeder. She is 11 weeks old and the lone survivor of the litter. She had only been seen by a Veterinarian at the age of 5 days previously. She has had radiographs which revealed she has a Generalized congential megaesophagus. As a result she must be fed 6 small meals a day and when she eats she must stand on her rear legs in order for the food to reach her stomach. In addition she must remain in that position for 5 minutes after she eats. Failure to do this will result in the food be rejected as well as the possibility of the food entering her lungs. She will be wormed and begin her vaccines. Once she is old enough it will be determined if she can tolerate anesthetic in order to be spayed. She will remain on medical hold until such time as the Veterinarians feel she is doing well enough to be adopted to a family who can continue the care as described above for the remainder of her life. There is no surgical procedure that can correct her medical issue.
