About Mac

Adoption Fee: $75
Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Forever home needed ASAP for 'Mac' - 4-year-old purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound in Hartnett county NC - beautiful boy, beloved pet. Recently diagnosed with hyperthyroid - easily treated with meds. The vet believes this diagnosis accounts for his behavior displayed below, because it was completely out of the ordinary for him. His owner has been sleeping in her car some nights and boarding him other nights because her husband won't let him come home, and she is considering euthanization because she can't afford to keep boarding him, and has reached out to a ton of rescues and has gotten no help. So this situation is desperate. Needs a home with no small kids or cats. All medical records included and the woman will provide 2 months of meds, food, his favorite blankets, toys, anything else needed%BD'%BD|.. Here's his story - 'We have had Mac since he was 8 weeks old. He's now 4. He has always around kids and babies. We have 4 kids & I had a day care in my home for 3 years. About 2 weeks ago he bit one of the little boys I watch. I was right there. The little boy did nothing to provoke Mac. A little bit before this happened we were all playing ball outside. This happened inside. My husband won't let him back in our house. He's current on all shots. He's pure breed. He's very smart & loving.I have all the paperwork. I have the papers that say he's pure breed. He's on a grain free diet. He's super picky eater. He likes watermelon and broccoli. I give him salmon and coconut oil to keep fleas away. He loves soft beds and blankets. Mac has never been crated. He is very well behaved when left home alone. He has a few toys I leave out. He doesn't destroy anything. Something he will cry when I leave. He gives a great welcome home. He has bed time. I know crazy. It's around 8/9. He knows if the lights are off its bed time. When he gets a little overwhelmed or over excited (he talk a lot) we put a leash on him tell him to be calm and as long as the leash is on he will lay down. He's not great with cats. I am not sure about small dogs. He's very social. He does like to eat alone. He can be possessive of his food. We have been working on that and it has gotten much better.' Please contact Nina asap (I am volunteering on this case for Mountain Pet Rescue in Asheville.) at [email protected] for more information - or text 505-920-4414 - Thank you for caring about this beautiful boy.
