He came with issues, pushing through doorways with snapping and when he 'plays' his pupils get huge and he will nip at ankles and hands. We taught him manners and some tricks, he will open his mouth for me to put his Trazadone down his throat, will tough either paw to get a treat, will wait with a door wide open until I say 'ok'. He resource guards which I learned early on and if he is licking at something on his body, I cannot touch it to see what it is. I have been a pet groomer for over 15 years, he is my 6th Dobie and I have another groomer do his nails. He is a typical needy male Dobe, which I don't mind, it's the nipping and resource guarding that concerns me as I just became a grandma in December and I can't risk him around her even as she gets older. I've had him evaluated by two behaviorist, they both basically said don't get in his face. duh. The second one suggested the Trazadone. One trainer would not work with him and said that he would bite someone some day. I don't want it to be my grandchild! or me again.
