About Caesar

Adoption Fee: $295.00
Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Coming soon! Caesar is looking for a new family to love. He is an 8-9 month old Aussie mix located in Houston, Texas. He will get his shots, and be neutered and microchipped the week of March 26th and should be ready for his furever home in early to mid-April! Caesar has a very nice personality! Only moderate energy, which is surprising for such a young boy with Aussie in him. Good about staying off furniture, no counter surfing yet. Has zero ball catching skills, but does fetch and bring it back and put the ball right in your hand. Flyball and agility are not in his future, but perhaps could be a jogging buddy. He knows sit but has not been taught down, stay, or come. He pulls and zig zags on leash, and he jumps, so his foster is working hard to correct those behaviors. He hasn't chewed anything but his antler and Kong, except for a bit of mouthing on foster's hand and arm, which is puppy behavior, and he's easily redirected to chew the antler. He seems wary of electric cords so it's possible he had a negative experience there. No resource guarding. He takes food from foster's hand very gently and lets her take things away from him. Caesar also lets her pick him up. He's a bit reserved when strangers approach. He rolls over on his back for belly rubs. Not too kissy - just a little bit every now and then. Caesar has a big, deep bark that his foster loves, but wishes he wouldn't bark at passing dogs. He starts barking when he goes outside, and sometimes incites other dogs to bark, which his foster would like to work on, but Caesar seems to be having fun doing it, so it may be a challenge. Perhaps he was a backyard dog in his former life. He does not allow birds or squirrels in his territory. Caesar rides very well in a car - he settles down in the back seat with no crate. No potty accidents indoors except once on the first day. Settles right down in both crate and laundry room. His foster considers him highly adoptable. Caesar absolutely adores his foster's husband so we think he prefers men. He gets really happy when his foster's husband comes home from work. Hopefully Caesar's furever home has a another man for him to adore! http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application
