About Freddie

Sweet Westie Mix, Freddie, has had a very difficult life. He was a two year old being surrendered to PAW rescue who placed him with a inappropriate family who did little to care for him. They often left him tied outside for hours on end and never walked him. He got heavy but worse he became blind. He is so loving and lost in his world of being alone so often, outside and damaged. We have been spending tons of time with him. He's losing weight, LOVES walks, LOVES being in any room you are in and he learns where the furniture is and acts like a regular dog. He needs a quiet home, is great with cats, and just need a non smoking home with a person or couple wants a loving buddy to snuggle with. Take long walks with and just BE together. He is going to have difficulty in a home that is colonial style. He can do a few steps but daily going up and down more than a few is dangerous for him. He's completely house broken, never barks but definitely communicates well. We don't know if he'd be ok with another dog or not, it would be nice if he could get along with a dog who can help be his eyes. He's about eight years old, but he's got a huge personality and has a lot of love to give still. He's completely healthy and loves to take many little walks each day working up to LONG walks and dropping a few more pounds. He never barks, he's starting to play, it's great to see him come out of his tortured life and get back that spring in his step. Kids move too fast for him, so a home with no little kids in necessary. A quiet country home is what he needs. No apartments or mobile home parks, a home with a fenced yard is what the doctor orders so he can follow his nose OFF LEASH at times as well.
