About Finley

Finley is a 5-6 year old pekinese chow chow and a few other breeds per his DNA, total mutt, with a very unique look! He is very affectionate, he loves hugs and kisses, and to play with other dogs he is comfortable with (he's currently in foster care with 6 others). He is fearful of new people and can be protective of the home or yard if they come in without a proper introduction. He has and can learn to trust calm, patient men and children with positive reinforcement. Consistency is key. He's lived with a confident cat but IS cat curious so would need to be supervised. An ideal home would be in a calm home without a lot of company and a fenced yard, who will take him on long leashed walks, hikes or jogs. Finley is crate trained and enjoys the security of his own private area when home alone. We are working on positive reinforced fear reactivity counter conditioning and have started Finley on daily anti-anxiety meds to help deal with his anxiety/fear. This combination has helped him gain confidence and a new home where he is not feeling anxious from frequent company will help him thrive. Finley is around 30 lbs. and loves leashed walks and jogs and is very treat motivated. He has come a long way since coming into foster care and is ready to find his fur-ever home. He currently lives with several other dogs, cats, parrots, and rats and is thriving. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
