About Roxie

Adoption Fee: $20
American Staffordshire Terrier / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

I have fostered and rescued for over 10 years and none of the rescues I've worked with or any in Texas are able to help me. I keep getting turned away. This is really her last chance and it makes me so sad. On February 17th my three year old was jumping around and accidentally fell on my dog Roxie. Roxie is blind on one side and is already skittish on that side. It just so happened that my daughter fell on that side and Roxie reacted on instinct. We ended up spending the weekend in the hospital because of the accident. When we arrived to the Emergency room they took a report of the bite and the animal control was called to pick her up. We do not want her put down due to an accident yet I cannot keep her in my home if I want to keep my daughter. I love Roxie very much but I want to keep my daughter more than I want to keep Roxie. I HAVE to find her a new home. Roxie is extremely lovey. She is the best cuddler I have. She craves attention all the time and will cuddle up on the couch and watch endless movies all day. She loves squeaky toys, and will play chase till you give up and then she will end up bringing you the toy. She will run into furniture if you rearrange anything till she gets use to it again and is scared of being snuck up on, on her blind side. She has never been aggressive to any other people in the house. She is utd on all shots, microchipped, fixed, kennel and house trained. She lives in a home with a 40lb pit bull, 5 lb Chihuahua, and a feisty Sphynx. She has also lived through a few foster dogs coming into her home as well. She needs to be introduced to other dogs slowly but she will get along with them eventually. Roxie really is a sweet girl but with her being skittish and there being a report documented I cannot keep her. Right now she is Kenned at my house for the majority of the day but I told the Animal Control that I would not be keeping her and she would go to a rescue. Sadly no rescue has helped. I can't keep her but I know if I take her to the pound they will just put her down. Roxie would do best in a home with no small children and being an only fur baby. She will get along with other dogs but it takes her a while to get use to them.
