About DUCK-DESTINY

Adoption Fee: $550
Pointer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

DUCK-DESTINY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed for space. Destiny is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 8 September 2017 and at the time of rescue in March 2018 weighed around 19.00 pounds. Destiny has been listed as a Pointer Mix, however, we are not able to say for sure what breed he is, it is up to you to look at his pictures and decide what you think he looks like. Destiny, is a very smart handsome young boy who is extremely inquisitive and will explore anything and everything. He is often climbing the big snow ploughed mounds to see if he can get up on the roof of the building, luckily he couldn't but it was not for the want of trying. It wasn't that he wanted to escape, he just wanted to explore. Destiny is living in the communal area with the small dogs and he is having a lot of fun. He is very gentle although still very puppy and does need to learn some manners and of course some basic obedience. Destiny would really make a great family addition to an active, fun family that has the lifestyle that will take him on lots of adventures and let him explore. %BD'%BD%BD Destiny does use the dog door to go out to do his business or enjoy the fresh air in his run. I do not know if he would let you know he needs to go out since she has 24/7 access to the outside, but he is extremely smart and do not think it would take long to learn. Destiny is great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and is happy to run around chasing and wrestling. He has not shown any sign of aggression at all. He has a lot of energy and so he will need an active family. Someone who understands the importance of mental stimulation as well as physical exercise. I have not seen him with children, but his demeanor and personality I have no doubt that he would be great with them and a lot of fun too. He needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with him themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. Destiny rides good in the car. He is used to being with other dogs so a family with another dog would be great, however, if that is not the case, then play-dates with other dogs would be extremely beneficial for him. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be near or around them. As with all rescue's he needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with him themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. DESTINY needs an active family and one that will keep her mind stimulated and challenged. Lots of hikes and adventures, training tricks, or agility, dock diving or other fun, active, stimulating activities would be perfect for this girl. A family that understands the need to be an alpha with working breed dogs. He is great with humans and I believe would be great with children, I am sure they could keep each other entertained for many hours. %BD'%BD%BDWe do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. DESTINY is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org DESTINY is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine.
