About Izzy

Izzy is a whippet mix dumped at our local shelter by the family who owned her for 7 years. They had raised her on rural acreage with an underground fence and then moved to a subdivision where they decided having to use a leash and provide more secure fencing was too much trouble. She was never socialized much with outside dogs and is fearful when they get in her face. She seems to do best with dark colored male labs and that is what she lived with. She also raised a lab puppy that was brought into the home. She loves water, hiking, walking and will jog beside you also. She is very anxious and fearful at first when changing homes and needs an adopter willing to give her time to trust before exposing her to lots of new people and places etc. She seems to love children but due to her anxiety when entering a new home I would not recommend small children who might crowd her. She is not dog reactive when on the leash and in public. She is housebroken and crates with no issues. She is very much a sighthound in every way and I have had whippets, greyhounds and IG over the years. She is a foster for the Pixel Fund, an all breeds rescue and needs all the exposure we can get to find her the right home.
