About Hammi

Hammi came to GGOH with his momma and sibling sister as strays, found roaming a neighborhood in St. Paul, MN. Hammi (and Saint) spent a few days in foster getting acclimated to humans and are now at our facility and ready for new adventures. Hammi is a shy fella but, we've seen this scenario so many times - all he needs is a loving home with a patient owner and we know that he will in no time be a loving, forever companion. Hammi does have a special need, that being his diet. Hammi has presented with itchy skin when given the dry kibble that we give to our general population cats. In a trial run, we found that Hammi does really well on a raw diet and we've kept him on that rather than upset his system trying to find the right kibble for him. It would be great if his new human could keep him on this raw diet (currently he's eating raw Quail twice daily) but, a good quality wet diet may be just as suitable for him - we haven't had the luxury to do a trial test with a diet like that due to the number of other factors that could present itself when housed with as many other cats as we have in our facility. We have high hopes though that there is the perfect someone out there for him that is willing to either keep him on the raw diet, or be willing to do controlled diet changes to find the best alternative diet for him. We know this is a lot to ask for in finding a home for Hammi that is willing to help him overcome his fears and dietary challenges, but we do have hope.
