Name: Snow Age: 3 - 4 years Breed: American Bulldog / Dalmatian Mix Sex: Female (confirmed spayed) Location: Moultrie County, IL (but her owner will help transport to the right home) Vet Info: Snow is confirmed spayed and up to date on vaccines. All vaccines are next due on July 18, 2018. She is confirmed heartworm negative. Snow weighs about 58 pounds. Snow's owner tells us she has macular degeneration in one eye and a detached retina in the other, and is blind. Other than her vision, Snow's owner writes that Snow is in good health. Owner Info: Snow is a beautiful girl looking for a new home. Her owner writes, 'I adopted Snow from Miami-Dade animal shelter they were going to kill her because she is blind. I flew to Miami to drive her back to Illinois. We did a slow intro to my 4 other dogs at the time. 3 pit and a shih tzu. They accepted her into pack. A month later the shelter I work with had a pocket pit that I became attached to. She was adopted out and was returned because owner said she nipped his side. She was scheduled to be put down so I adopted her. Everything has been going great, until my 2 newest started to fight. It has been escalating and now my large male got involved. Now everything has gone south. I have been working with trainer and suggested using muzzles. I have a problem muzzling a blind dog. My fear is she is not safe. I have been keeping them separated, but it is not fair to any of the dogs. I don't want her to live in fear. She gets along great with my mellow dogs. My other 2 dogs are not tolerant.' Snow is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. She is housebroken and leash trained. Snow is a smart little girl and knows several commands, including Sit, Kennel, Outside, Treat, and Walk. She is described as 'outgoing', and is good with men, women, and teenagers. A home with small children is not recommended for Snow. Her owner also tells us Snow is good with both male and female dogs who are more on the mellow side (see above). Snow does have resource guarding issues and is fed in her crate. She has not shown aggression to people, but will retaliate if attacked by another dog. Snow's owner gave us more information about Snow and how sweet she is! 'She needs a quiet loving home with people and mellow dogs. She loves to go on walks and cuddle. She sits on couch by me every night. she loves bones and kisses. She loves to ride in the car and stick her nose out of window. she doesn't do well on a lot of stairs. I taught her to go up and down 4. She was a backyard breeder dog, not potty trained when I got her. She has come so far. I want her to be able to be loved all the time and not live in fear or restriction.' 'She has had a tough life, but is exceptionally smart and well adjusted. It is not her fault that I am rehoming her...' Please contact [email protected]. Please note we will ask for a vet reference.
