About Beckett-PENDING!

Poodle / Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

It got scarily close to Beckett's euthanasia time in a dismal Houston high-kill shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own. Beckett was a victim of the streets. He was brought in by his guardians that observed him getting hit by a car...they said that they didn't have the funds or desire to help Beckett and requested his euthanasia. As Beckett was processed into the overcrowded shelter, personnel were moved by his extremely sweet and friendly behavior while being in great pain from his injuries. They made an instantaneous decision to save Beckett's life based on an excellent and very loving temperament. Beckett is currently being treated for his injuries, most of which seem like deep cuts and abrasions at this point. He is also scheduled for x-rays prior to his transport to Colorado. If there are any skeletal challenges, Farfel's will cover all costs for treatment and repair if our Denver vet is used. Beckett has been identified as a stunning example of the apricot Miniature Poodle (with a bit of Bichon in the mix for good measure). These mixes are very popular for their small size and hypoallergenic coats...as well as the super- intelligence that both breeds have always been known for. Beckett, at just about 9 - 12 months old and 20 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Beckett is an excellent candidate to find his forever home in Colorado. He is the perfect size to be a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any trail or path. We envision Beckett with a family with very respectful, older kids who love dogs or active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical and sweet fuzzy guy. We're searching for a family that either works part-time, works from home or is retired. Beckett will blossom in the company of a guardian who is very present..and loves to provide him with exercise, mental stimulation and group obedience classes with a positive reinforcement trainer. Beckett will be a star in these classes while bonding with his family and learning the skills to accompany his people everywhere a smaller, well-trained dog is welcome. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Beckett would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Beckett than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is untested with cats. Beckett can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is a happy guy once comfortable whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. While Beckett was frightened by his shelter experience, he is now safely out of the shelter and with his rescuer. She's working with Beckett on his confidence (as he bonds, he's definitely blossoming), leash skills and he's being reminded of his basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? She did say that Beckett may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy and very loving self. Beckett is in need of a sudsy bath and grooming%BD'%BD|. he'll emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous apricot and beige coloring that runs throughout. Beckett will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, very soft and matt-free. Beckett is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from Texas, however there are not enough vets to keep up with the need in this industrial area of Houston. If he isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Beckett to be neutered and microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Beckett is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 3/23/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
