About Allie

Allie is a delightful and happy Rat Terrier, about 7 years old, 18 lbs., and formerly a beloved pet. Sadly, however, she was surrendered to a shelter when her people lost their home and was most unhappy to be without a family to call her own. When she was rescued by New Rattitude, Allie was relieved to be back in a home environment, and she's proving to be an all-around, wonderful little dog. Allie LOVES going for walks and walks nicely in a harness on a leash. An equally great passenger in the car, where she rides in a crate, she frequently goes to work with her foster mom and has very good office behavior too! Allie gets along great with her three canine foster siblings and the resident 17-year-old cat. She is sweet and respectful to all of them, and they all love her! She plays chase with the dogs and even tries to get the cat to play--gently of course. Allie also really loves her people, and while she's a bit shy and warms slowly (more quickly to women than to men), she'll eventually be everyone's friend. Allie has some expert abilities. One of them is cuddling. Allie LOVES to cuddle not only with her people but also with dogs. Even though her foster siblings are not cuddly with other dogs, somehow Allie has won their hearts and they allow her to cuddle with them. She is also quite athletic and agile with an amazing sense of balance! In the evenings, Allie joins everyone in bed to watch a little TV, but at bedtime she happily goes into her crate and sleeps through the night. She is house-trained and will let you know when she needs go out, but she's not too keen on using the dog door. With patience and time, she should become accustomed to it. Enjoying the company of a pack as she does, Allie would be a great fit for a home with other dogs and even cats. Her energetic but sweet disposition makes her ideal for active retired folks or a family with kids, even young ones with proper supervision. Allie would love a family that includes her in their daily life and activities. And she has her paws crossed for a fenced yard, where she can dance, prance, and balance to her heart's content.
