About Casper

Casper is an owner surrender who is a 3 year old Border Collie. He lived in a home with a child with disabilities. When the child was acting up and mom tried to correct the child Casper decided that wasn't going to happen and backed mom away from the baby. He is terrified here at the shelter. He is allowing a couple of the staff to interact (after bribbing him with Egg McMuffins) but is still pretty stand offish with most of us. Being in a shelter is stressful for a dog so on top of loosing his family he finds himself surrounded by a bunch of barking dogs and visitors all coming by his kennel and expecting him to come to the gate for being handled and so far he just isn't liking it very much. He is not used to men and would probably be better in a home with women unless the man in the home is willing to be very patient. He knows sit, stay, shake and lay down. He is housebroken and can go 9 to 10 hours while you are gone to work. He is still 'jumpy' and needs some work on that. He loves kids. Has never been around cats or other dogs. He isn't great on a leash as he still pulls - he does better with a harness on. He is neutered, current on his shots and will be ready to go home when he finds the right woman to love him.
