I am looking for a home for this Catahoula mix. I found him last Saturday with a beautiful female pit bull in the middle of two FM roads outside Edna, TX. I have contacted Victoria and Edna animal control, the only rescue organization in that area, two vets in the area and two camping grounds close by at Lake Texoma. He has also been checked for a microchip. I was told by a camping ground employee who drives this way to work that they are always in the middle of this road and cars often stop. This poor guy was out in the middle looking up at people as they drove by as if he were asking for help. He is super sweet and smart. He sits and shakes on command and has been taught to not jump on people. He will stand in front of you on hind legs but will not touch you. I have also never heard him bark. When he wants attention he whines softly. In general, I think he would get along fine with other animals and I think he misses his pitbul friend. However, I have four dogs, one of which is a small unhappy chihuahua. My chihuahua grows and barks at him so I am afraid he will provoke the Catahoula and get injured. He is now staying in my garage which has a door that opens to my backyard. We are taking turns letting dogs out but it will be too hot for this situation very soon. The good news is a women who is fostering the pit bull has fallen in love and agreed to keep her! Any help for this sweet little guy would be appreciated.
