About Hunter

Hunter is a very adoptable and very good looking, happy, healthy Shepherd mix, about 3-4 years old, 62lbs, neutered, microchipped, and heart worm negative, He is a gentle southern boy, from Rome, GA and after 2 months in a shelter, foster mom picked him up on the way home from Florida. Hunter is still a bit unsure and sometimes shy, but with patience, socialization and security he will overcome it easily. It's great to see him become more confident and happier every day even after a few days in his foster home. He is a very affectionate and sweet soul, loves to roll over for a belly rub...His energy level is ideal: he's not overly active, but not a couch potato. He enjoys and very much needs his regular walks, but won't make foster mom feel guilty if his walk is skipped or not as long. His leash manners are impeccable even though he tends to lean in or suddenly stop walking. Regular leash walks are still new to him. He doesn't mind his crate, but prefers to be next to and lean on foster mom as much as possible. He is not an escape artist, won't climb or dig under fences or run away. After the morning in the backyard, snoozing in the sun, he loves to jump in the car to run errands like a trip to Petsmart. He thoroughly enjoys all the compliments and attention he gets! Another favorite is a dog friendly restaurant patio, where he patiently sits and waits to share an order of chicken strips! Hunter gets along with other dogs, even cats. He is not an alpha dog so a dog park will be another fun activity! He is good with kids and will make an amazing family dog or maybe a best friend for a teenage boy or girl? He has his overnight bag packed and is looking forward to his new lucky pet-parent, friend and furrever home. Hunter will give back much more than he needs. He is great company and a real keeper! His adoption fee includes his favorite treats, food, 6month supply of hw prevention, and a nice cushion!
