About MAX

SAY HELLO TO MAX! Max is a beautiful 10 year old Senior Shih Tzu boy. Weighing in at just 10 pounds, what can we say about Max .. he is a very special boy looking for a family who can open their hearts to him. Max came to us through no fault of his own other than he - like us we all will - became a senior. He was surrendered to the pound and then was adopted. His adopters then returned him for being deaf. We believe he is not completely deaf but can hear a little bit. Our Max has had a difficult struggle and went through a long depression. And who wouldn't be after being a loving part of a family for at least 10 years and then dumped at the county shelter not able to hear everything around him, the smells unfamiliar and his site is a little blurry. We brought him right away to our Veterinarian and had his complete Wellness check and professional dental. After several tooth extractions, he was feeling so much better. His health is good now (for his age) and he is absolutely adorable! Amazing what a little love and care can do for one's soul. Max would love to have a home where someone is tolerant of his special needs and does not mind that he can't hear well. It has been difficult for him to show his personality in rescue as he is intimidated by the other dogs even though they are similar in size. He probably has spent most of his life as an only dog. He is very quiet and low energy and just needs a lap to lay on. We believe his full adorableness is waiting to blossom with that special family! Max isn't completely housetrained, so he will need gentle guidance until he gets to know the layout of his new family's home and routine. He rides well in the car and is a little unsure of walks on the leash. Max is not barky at all nor does he chew on anything. He is very independent and welcomes all that he meets. His ideal home would be a quiet one that understands his needs. He would be fine as an only dog who could be your lap dog. Max is a longer coated breed, so he will require regular brushing as well as professional grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. Max's adoption fee is $250.00 This fee includes his neuter, Veterinarian Wellness visits, professional dental cleaning with tooth extractions, all vaccinations including rabies and bordatella, deworming, microchip with free lifetime registration and professional grooming.
