About Jazzy

Adoption Fee: $50
Shih Tzu
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Jazzy is a precious, 12 lbs, girl who came to PAWS as a matted, frightened, pitiful stray. We got her all cleaned up and she just blossomed! Her personality and behavior qualities can best described as being a couch potato, friendly, shy, submissive, quiet, affectionate, laid back, and at time, cautious. She has never displayed any signs of aggression towards people or animals. She wants nothing more than to be loved on and nestled in your lap. Jazzy likes to sit next to her foster on her lounger or goes in her crate to nap. She doesn't jump on furniture, but needs help up and is afraid to jump down so she needs assistance getting back down. Because of her age, she's not an active dog and spends most of her time chilling out. She is very calm and quiet when riding in a car so she would make a great traveling companion. She's not around other dogs or children in her foster home, but we feel with slow, appropriate introductions where she can see who's approaching her and allow her to smell them, she would be fine. She completely ignores the foster's cats. Jazzy is housebroken, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash when taken for walks. She sleeps in her crate, in the living room, very soundly through the night and never barks. She lets her foster know when she has to potty by sitting in front of her chair and giving her a low growl or putting her paws up on her chair. After doing her business in the yard, she struts happily back to the door to go back in. She may have an accident when new people come to the house. She also likes to follow her foster around the house. Jazzy is only left alone for short periods, but doesn't display any separation anxiety. Jazzy has a cataract in her left eye and is a little hard of hearing, but does hear high pitched sounds well. The average life span of a Shih Tzu can range from 10-16 years (depending on health conditions) and because she's in good health, we feel she has more good years ahead of her. The best guesstimate as to her age is 8-10 YO. Jazzy would do best in an inside-only, calm household with first time or experienced owners who will be patient with her and love on her. If she has a canine companion(s), proper introductions would be mandatory.
