About Hiro

Corgi
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Hiro is a tricolor Welsh Pembroke Corgi. He is smaller than a regular corgi. He is 12 years young. He LOVES people but other dogs not so much! He would need to be in a single pet household. We don't know how he is around kids as he is never alone with our daughter and she is the first kid in a long time in our families but he never barks at her or other children as we live across the street from an elementary school. Hiro is housetrained and is an inside dog but loves playing catch outside. He is incredibly well mannered: Sit, Stay, and Shake, though he sometimes gets excited and jumps up to give kisses . We have an appointment with the humane society on Tuesday but we don't want him to be put in a pound or put down,we know he has lots of love still to give to a family. Hiro is a 12 year old Welsh Pembroke Corgi who has the energy and demeanor of a much younger dog, he doesnt know he's a senior! He did not have any medical issues until December, 2 days before my wife's due date. Hiro had a very bad infection in his mouth and we were given antibiotics and medicated wipes to clear it up. Another infection returned in January, though now on his side and cleared up with another dose of antibiotics. On Monday his infection returned yet again but returned much worse, encompassing his entire side. We took him in and we sent in a bacterial culture which turned out to be a staph infection. We have a newborn at home who has not yet received her first set of shots and who may have underlying heart issues. Hiro is an inside dog, and we are afraid that he can pass this infection to her and having underlying medical issues that it could turn into something very scary for our daughter. His vet is very confident that this can be cleared up again, though we feel that this is too risky to have around our daughter.
