About Chico

Chico deserves a different family. He's a good dog but he's a lot of work and we can't find a balance between working with him, our full-time jobs, and enjoying our 1 year old. Chico is one years old, 55lb lab/heeler/mutt rescue. He's burnt orange and white, with one floppy ear. He's soft to pet and cute and smart. He is food motivated so he's great to train. And at the end of the day he loves to snuggle. He also likes to be the one in charge and greets new people by jumping (we are working on this!). When he's not getting what he wants he barks. He does best when he's working, by following a command or playing, preferably tug. So, he needs someone who can be in charge and give him things to do to keep his brain engaged and give him enough exercise (morning and evening walk, hour long afternoon walk, play sessions everyday). And we've trained him to be a loose leash walker which is pretty great. I think he can be a great running dog too, but that will take more work because he likes to stop and sniff things and gets distracted by other dogs and cats. He's been good around the baby and she thinks he's highly entertaining. This has not been an easy decision. He'll come with everything he needs for his new home: cozy dog bed, leash, plenty of food and toys, up to date on vaccinations, neutered. Happy to give our dog trainer and vet as references.
