Name: Mack Age: 10 years Breed: Cockapoo (mix with standard poodle) Sex: Male (neutered - confirmed) Location: Guilford, CT Vet Info: Mack is 10 years old and weighs 43 pounds. He is confirmed neutered. Mack is not current with all vaccinations but his owner is willing to help with this. His rabies was due in December of 2017. He has been heartworm tested and it was negative. He has been blind since 2014 and it is believed that it is genetic. He has seen a veterinary ophthalmologist. Mack also had a wellness visit on 12/5/17. His blood results showed elevated liver enzymes. According to his owner, 'the vet was not concerned but said he should be rechecked soon. Otherwise he seems to be in good health. He needs his rabies vaccination otherwise he is UTD on all others.' Owner Info: Mack is in need of a new home but his current owner is willing to take the time to find him a place that is best for him and his needs. She tells us, 'I rescued Mack from an owner surrender that was an urgent situation. I rescued him knowing that it might not work out because of my dogs but I did so with a commitment to have Mack placed in a better situation.' She has had Mack for 2 months. The owner says, 'I took the responsibility for placing Mack in a better setting even if it didn't work out with my dogs.' Mack is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. He is housebroken but not leash trained. His owner shares, 'He knows very few commands besides for sit. Mack is also mostly deaf. He is very mild mannered although he is clearly nervous about leaving parts of the house that he is familiar with.' Mack can be nervous but is good with men and women. He is living with two other dogs but isn't kept around them. He has only been possessive of food with one of the other dogs and he does not guard food with humans. He did have an incident with one of the other dogs and the owner feels it was triggered by food. She said, 'I keep the dogs separate for eating and when I am not in the home. One of my dogs is not comfortable around Mack. Mack sometimes growls for no apparent reason. I try to keep the dogs separated when that happens. I can walk them both together; they are fine outside but there is basically no communications between Mack and my other two dogs.' Mack's owner feels that it takes him a while to adjust to new settings saying, 'He is clearly uncomfortable in new situations. He restricts himself to two areas of the house; he also is not comfortable walking in new areas in the neighborhood and will just refuse to move. Otherwise he is a loving dog who really likes humans. I don't know how he is with children and cats as I haven't had him long enough to test him. He is a very sweet dog.' They also want us to know what a sweet boy he is and how committed they are to finding him his perfect home! 'Mack is a very sweet dog. He would do better in a home where he is the only dog or there is a dog that is less active.'
