About Matilda

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings, friends! My name is Matilda, and if you are looking for a darling princess you are definitely in the right place! I am a 7-month-old Retriever mix (with a Hound-like face!), and I am looking for a lifetime of love and fun! I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation, so if you are looking for a goofy, cuddly love-bug you are definitely in luck! I have rich reddish-brown fur that is so soft you will love petting me non-stop! And my loving chocolate eyes, silly floppy ears, and sweet smile perfectly demonstrate my mix of affection and playfulness! My friends from Fetching Tails Foundation saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where I was brought after being found as a stray. I waited there for more than a week for someone to claim me as their baby girl; thankfully my foster mommy met me and sprung me from the loud, busy shelter! I am so happy she did because her home is soooo much fun! I have big doggie friends to play with (including fellow FTF adoptable Ralphie and FTF alumna Rey); I love to hang out with them and play so many fun games together. We run and romp around the yard all day, so I would absolutely adore having a canine friend and fenced yard at my forever home. Since I am young, I am an active girl and love having an outlet for my playful energy. I get along with all humans I meet, too, what can I say? I am an outgoing girl who loves love and attention! Given my energy level and excitement, I think I would do best with older children; I get so excited when I see my favorite humans that I can be bouncy like a bunny and I would hate to accidentally knock over a tiny human. When I am all tired out after a fun-filled day, I am ready for some serious snuggle time with my foster parents. I make myself at home between them on the couch so we can all enjoy tv time together and I can share my affection equally! And not to brag too much (Who am I kidding? If I can't brag now, when can I?), but I also have great manners and am learning more all the time. I can be left alone for a few hours per day while my foster parents take care of what they call 'adulting,' and I know a few commands including sit and stay. I am working hard on mastering potty training; I would say I am about 80 percent there but still might have a couple accidents while I learn the layout and routine of my forever home. With continued positive guidance and consistency, I will ace this important skill in no time! I am a smart girl and eager to please, so I think it could be fun if we attend some training classes together to see just how smart we can be!
