About MICA - $200

MICA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed for space. Mica is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 7 February 2015 and at the time of rescue in February 2018 weighed around 50 pounds. Mica has been listed as an German Shepherd mix, however, we are not able to say for sure what breed she is, it is up to you to look at her pictures and decide what you think she looks like. At the shelter Mica was with a German Shepherd named Glory who was extremely fearful and had bonded with her and felt safer being with Mica. When Mica was not with her she would cower at the back of her kennels, but Mica gave her confidence. So of course we saved Glory the same time as Mica and brought them both up to the rescue. Since being at the rescue Glory has gained in confidence, she is in a pen next to Mica and they have playtime together and are so very happy with each other. Mica since being at the rescue is totally loving life, she loves to play with toys, chew on hooves and horns, wrestle and chase with Glory and the other dogs and get lots of love and cuddles as much as she can. Mica is high energy and she feeds of the excitement of the other dogs, but does calm down and settle after a while. She is a great girl who has never shown any kind of aggression in any way. When out of her pen she will run up and down the kennels saying hi to her friends and then will run out to play outside and burn off some of that excess energy. Mica does use the dog door to go out to do her business or enjoy the fresh air in her run. I do not know if she would let you know she needs to go out since she has 24/7 access to the outside, but she is extremely smart and do not think it would take long to learn. Mica is great with other dogs and is happy to run around chasing and wrestling. She has not shown any sign of aggression at all. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how she would be near or around them. She needs an active family, I have not seen her with children, but her demeanor and personality I have no doubt that she would be great with them and a lot of fun too. As with all rescue's she needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with her themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. ��%BD��%BD%BD'��%BD��%BD%BD��%BD��%BD%BDWe do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. MICA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
