About Harley

Hello! My name is Charlie (fka Harley) - my foster mom changed my name, she thinks Charlie fits me better because it's more CHEERful. I'm a loving, highly intelligent Australian Shepherd blend in search of my dream-come-true-family/companions. I love the outdoors, I learn quickly and want to please, and loved to be loved. My foster mom tells me all the time - I'm a SMART boy - and I'm so glad she sees that in me. I once lived with a family whom I miss as I was part of the family for 7 years (since I was 12 weeks old). But, for whatever reason I was subjected to being mistreated by their 3-year old toddler and I nipped him and his mom. My foster mom believes I had to have been seriously provoked because I have never once tried to bite her. She is very sweet to me and would never hurt me. I had a best friend in a 14 year old Labrador Retriever, but he passed on and I was very lonely after that. I have 3 foster bros where I am staying now; however, one is a bit like the 'school yard bully' toward me, so we are kept separate. My foster mom says I shouldn't worry about him, he's just jealous of my good looks. The other two are OK. I have learned many commands over the years such as sit, stay, come, shake, and leave-it. We are currently working on 'Stay Here' where my foster mom will ask me to sit by the window at the very front of the house and I'll do just that as she runs to the most distant corner on the other end of the house. Once she calls my name I look around and find her. I suppose it's like Hide and Seek - but the funnest part are the treats! Didn't really get so many treats before - it's great!! I love riding in the car with the window open, long walks on a windy day, visiting the nice flower people at the lawn and garden store, going to Petco and looking through all the toys, and Oh - how I love to have my hair brushed! It makes me feel more like a person. My foster mom tells me we are all on a journey and that the right family/person will come along one day- but it can't be just anyone. She says they will have to be as special as me - the more active and outdoors-y the better. I know in my heart it's going to work out - everything good takes time, though!
