About Lincoln

Don't his warm sad eyes and soft floppy ears just pull at your heart? Lincoln is a lover boy who is looking for a home to call his own. This handsome hound is a house and crate trained 1 year old, 70 lb Plott mix who is smart, loving, and easily entertained. He has attended basic obedience school and knows several commands, including sit, stay, heel, and come. He's still working on a few more, but with patience and practice, this smart boy will be a master of his domain in no time! If you have another dog, big or small, Lincoln will be THRILLED to play with a canine friend. He is even great even with little puppies, seeming to sense that he needs to be gentle with them. Since he's young, he's not a couch potato, but he's actually great at quietly entertaining himself when he's indoors and hanging out. Top items on his wish list include a big fenced yard where he can run ad play, lots of Kong toys to chew (yes, he's a bit mischievous if there are socks or squeaky toys laying around!), multiple belly rubs daily (and he will put his paw on you to remind you that it's rubbing time!), long walks, and if you have kids, he's a master kisser. His current home has children who are very impulsive, and Lincoln is not thrilled when they jump on him suddenly or squeeze him tightly. Can you blame him? A trainer has been working with the kids to teach them how to treat Lincoln properly, but not much progress has been made, which is why he is looking for a new home. If his new home has children who know how to behave respectfully around a dog, Lincoln will be their new best friend. He really loves sitting and listening to a child reading out loud (yes, it's super cute!), and his current parents say he'd actually make a great therapy dog in a library or school. Lincoln is a fabulous doorman and when company arrives, he greets everyone with a happy hello. He hasn't learned to actually bark to go outside and do his business, but he will stand right by the door to let you know. Lincoln sleeps quietly through the night in his bed (not a crate), and is overall a happy, fun, loving dog who really deserves an amazing family.
