About Sammy-ADOPTION PENDING

Poodle / Scottish Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

It got scarily close to Sammy's euthanasia time in a dismal New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time (but then again..all times are very crowded) and was therefore given a very short window in which to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate NM rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Sammy was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. His rescuer, shelter workers and Sammy's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Sammy, at about 2.5 years old and 8 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. Sammy is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a great walker (still learning his leash skills) with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on neighborhood paths and walkways. We envision Sammy in a family with dog-crazy and respectful, older kids with parents that either work from home, part-time or can bring Sammy along. Active retirees would also be great... they must enjoy spending their time with a comical and very loving and loyal best friend. Sammy will be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home with family members (on their lap would be great for this cuddly guy) would speak to the sweet nature of this dog. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Sammy than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats. Sammy can be counted on to be a positive addition to any home. He is a low-maintenance pup whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament testing and vetting with flying colors, Sammy is with his rescuer in New Mexico getting treats and belly rubs and being reminded of his house skills. She has described him as incredibly smart..and a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? She did also say that Sammy may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy, playful and very loving self. Sammy is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a thorough grooming%BD'%BD|. he will emerge with an amazing, cottony-soft coat that will highlight his gorgeous coloring that speaks of his breed mix. Sammy is one of the most hypoallergenic breeds available today and will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy, super-soft and matt-free. Sammy is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however a rescue dog like Sammy often falls through the cracks in this very poor area with too many dogs and not enough vets to neuter/spay them. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Sammy to be neutered and microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Sammy will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid- February (we'll update exact date as soon as it's confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to [email protected], fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sammy, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
